And now, on with the show!
Three Wise Men : Available Dec 16-23
.5 oz hennessy vsop
.5 oz grand marnier
1 oz bulleit bourbon
4 oz eggnog
Add a colossal ice sphere to a tall glass, add ingredients, and stir to combine.
Michael says: “This cocktail was inspired by childhood memories of visiting relatives for the holidays, when the kids would have regular eggnogs and the grown ups would get something a little extra in theirs.
In terms of the name, the Three Wise Men symbolizes the three spirits we use in the cocktail. They all work so well together. You have the oakiness of the bourbon, with just a little bit of bite from the cognac, and the sweetness of the cognac liqueur.
All of those bold flavors really complement the rich, creamy sweetness of the eggnog. We highly recommend treating your friends to a round or two. That would be a very wise move.”
Holly Jolly : Available December 23-29
1.5 oz Hendrick’s gin
1 oz cranberry-rhubarb syrup
.5 oz fresh lime juice
Add ingredients to a mixing tin with ice. Shake and strain into a martini glass. Garnish with cranberries.
Michael says: “Gin is a great winter spirit to play with, as it always captures the mood of a great holiday party. From a mixing perspective, you always want to balance it with flavors that will ease the bite, and really bring out the actual herbals and spices found in the gin.
This one is all about seasonal fruits and fragrance. Cranberries have always been our favorite winter berry, and so we thought that the tartness of fresh cranberries, combined with the more complex notes of rhubarb, would make for an awesome syrup if you cooked them both down. Hendricks’s gin was a natural choice for this one, because of the awesome botanicals and fresh taste.
Magical Margarita: Available December 31- January 5
1.5 oz El Jimador
.5 oz Cointreau
.5 oz fresh lemon juice
.5 oz fresh lime juice
1 oz agave
Add ingredients to a mixing tin with ice. Shake and strain into the martini glass over butterfly pea flower and colossal ice.
Michael says: “We had a few criteria for our New Year’s cocktail. It had be to awesome, super impressive, and most importantly, we needed to be able to serve a lot of them quickly because, you know, New Year’s Eve!
Immediately, we got the idea for a margarita. Who doesn’t love a classic margarita? But then we had to make it magical. How would we do that? By making it “smoke” and change color!
To create this magic elixir, we shake up the ice in a shaker with silver tequila, orange liqueur, and agave, and then strain the mixture over the butter pea syrup ice ball.
For the grand finale, we add the citrus juices, which make the cocktail change from blue to bright pink. And because we want your new year to start with a little extra magic, we add dry ice and edible iridescent glitter on top. Any year that starts with a drink this cool is going to be a good one!”
And with that, we wish you and yours a very happy holiday from the team here at Unscripted! See you in 2020!
